Foreign Exchange Rates (Forex) is designed to allow you to accept foreign currencies as a method of payment and let Toniq work out the value of the foreign currency to the New Zealand dollar.
NB: Toniq does not keep the exchange rates up to date. This is the responsibility of the pharmacy.
Setting up Foreign Exchange Tender Types
NB: This only needs to be done once per Foreign Exchange you require
From the Main Menu:
- 7 Administration, 5 Other Administration, 2 Maintain Tender Type
- F3 [Add]
- Fill in the Tender name (e.g. Australian AUD)
- Enter a short description which will appear on the Tender selection list
- Enter one character Selection Code (not currently used by another tender type)
NB: If this field goes Red the Selection code has already been ‘used’, try again.
- Set the Select Order
NB: This determines where this tender type appears in the Tender list: the higher the number entered the lower it appears in the list
- Leave the next few fields as set
- At Account ID field type in * and ENTER
- F3 [Add]
- Type into Account Name field *Shop*/Australian. Leave ‘Account Type’ set to General
- Press F12 [Accept Details] to add the account and return to the Tender type screen
- Set the Number of Receipts required (normally 1)
- Type in a Forex currency string
- Type in todays current rate
NB: This will be changed daily but from a different screen – see "Updating Forex Rates" section for more details

Updating Forex Rates (Daily)
From the Main Menu:
- 1 POS, 7 Utilities, 1 Forex rates
- Apply the rates as per the daily bank forex printout
- F12 [Accept Details]
Reporting
Foreign Exchange transactions will show as a separate entry on the Till Summary Report.
